Damage Identification of Functionally Graded Beams using Modal Flexibility Sensitivity-based Damage Index

چکیده
Over the past decades, numerous damage diagnosis techniques based on modal flexibility have been studied and developed for various types of structures, but rarely structures made functionally graded (FG) materials. This paper aims to present extensive applicability a sensitivity-based index termed as MFBDI identification FG beams. The formulation this is closed-form sensitivity derived from direct algebraic method. offered method numerically demonstrated clamped-clamped beam two-span under (i) single multiple cases, (ii) noise-polluted measurement data, (iii) only information first few incomplete modes. results indicate that when noise level added mode shape data below 10%, can correctly localize locations damaged elements approximately quantify their magnitudes in In addition, influences number used modes, magnitudes, gradient values are also investigated numerical simulations.

An effective approach for damage identification in beam-like structures based on modal flexibility curvature and particle swarm optimization
In this paper, a computationally simple approach for damage localization and quantification in beam-like structures is proposed. This method is based on using modal flexibility curvature (MFC) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Analytical studies in the literature have shown that changes in the modal flexibility curvature can be considered as a sensitive and suitable criterion for...
متن کاملDamage identification in beams using inverse methods
Beams, made of brittle materials like concrete or cement, show increasing crack development during their service life due to mechanical and environmental loadings. This local damage can be translated into a reduction of the local bending stiffness. Stiffness modifications, while assuming constant mass distribution, can be observed by monitoring the vibrational behavior of the beam. In this pape...
متن کاملDamage identification of structures using experimental modal analysis and continuous wavelet transform
Abstract: Modal analysis is a powerful technique for understanding the behavior and performance of structures. Modal analysis can be conducted via artificial excitation, e.g. shaker or instrument hammer excitation. Input force and output responses are measured. That is normally referred to as experimental modal analysis (EMA). EMA consists of three steps: data acquisition, system identificatio...
متن کاملA NEW DAMAGE INDEX FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION BY MEANS OF WAVELET RESIDUAL FORCE
In this paper a new method is presented for structural damage identification. First, the damaged structure is excited by short duration impact acceleration and then, the recorded structural displacement time history responses under free vibration conditions are analyzed by Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and Wavelet Residual Force (WRF) is calculated. Finally, an effective d...
